Barcelona 2 - Arsenal 1 UEFA Champions League Final
Thursday, May 18th, 2006 at 5:53 am in My LifeWhat an exciting match just now! First of all im a huge fan of Arsenal but i was supporting Barcelona all the way because Ronaldinho is one of my favourite player. Here are some of the highlights of the UEFA Champions League Final:
1. Thierry Henry almost score a goal at 2:30 min.
2. Arsenal Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann got kicked out because of red card at 18 min. 10 players left.
3. Awesome pass by Ronaldinho to Eto’o but his shot hit the left pole.
4. Thierry Henry free kick and Sol Campbell header score the first goal at 37 min.
5. Great pass by Larsson to Eto’o and he manage to score an equalizer for Barcelona at 76 min.
6. Another pass by Larsson to Belletti and he score the second goal for Barcelona at 80 min.
I was quite furious at first because obviously it is a fake dive that allow the free kick by Thierry which created a chance for Sol Campbell to score the first goal. To make it worst heavy rain started to pour after second half and smoke from fireworks almost blinded the whole field. Luckily Barcelona never gives up and in the end their persistence and patience paid off.

What rubbish, yeh, Eboue dived, but Barcelona players were play acting and falling all over the place for the entire match, even Ronaldinho took a dive at one stage - so the Barca players can have no complaints about the one that led to the goal. On a side note, lets also not forget the little dive that Puyol took when Shevchenko scored the ‘winner’ against them in the semi-finals. If Puyol had stayed on his feet like an honourable man instead of faking a foul Sheva’s goal would’ve stood, and Barca would have been kicked out at that stage.
Additionally, Lehmann shouldn’t have been sent off, many experts agree that a yellow and allowing the goal to stand would have been sufficient. Thirdly, Puyol should have been booked at least once for the challenges he was making on Henry. Lastly, the second goal was clearly offside.
Barcelona had all the luck on the night.
