Full Time Blogger
Monday, November 14th, 2005 at 2:43 am in My LifeI found some interesting discussions over here and here. Count back the days its been almost 1 month since i left my first job and venture into the unknown which is full time blogging. Heres the full story:
I graduated from Inti College Subang Jaya with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Computer Science degree(2nd class upper) and landed my first job in a photo processing company working as a Programmer/Webmaster. Before going into the company i have zero knowledge in PHP and they require me to know the particular web programming language. It took me 1 week to self learn PHP. Its easy for me to pick up PHP because my final year project is an online system and i’ve learned ASP from an Indian lecturer, so i know the basics of web programming.
After working half year in the company, one day i found Webmaster Malaysia Forum and i came across an interesting section called Revenue. I read through alot of the old posting in that forum section and that is where i’ve learned about Blogs and AdSense.
Since then everyday after my 9 to 6 job, i come back home and i learn, research and have fun blogging and reading blogs. I also play around with AdSense and read alot of successful story of people earning big money from it. At first my AdSense earning were like few cent per day, it grows few months later but it never past two digit per day. After reading Joel Comm’s Ebook, i’ve realized that i haven’t optimize it well enough.
After 6 months researching and optimizing my blogs, i’ve manage to get around $30+/day from my online income. I always complain to my closest friends that eventhough i know how to improve my online income but i got no time for it because after coming back from work i’ll be very tired and 4 times a week i’ll drive to my gf house(quite far) to accompany her, so basically i have no time at all to improve my current income. All of them replied the same thing, since your part time income higher than your full time income, quit your job.
I’ve taken deep consideration of what they’ve said and i did it, 1 month ago i left my job and i still remember my daily online income is $30 by then. In this 1 month time, i’ve spend more time in blogging, reading blogs and researching. At the same time i’ve launched Hottest Blogger and Latest Games. Both got featured in the newspaper here and here.
Im quite happy with the news but most importantly is that my decision of quitting my job is not a wrong decision at all. Because in 1 month time, i’ve manage to increase my online income by 200% for AdSense alone. At least i know my effort is worth something and i hope my goal of $100/day will come soon.
This is not a post to show off or something, this is a post for those who see potential in their online income and not sure if going full time would be the right path. My advice is be brave and take that step, you can always turn back when you fail. Sometimes you need to take risk, if you try at least you’ll succeed. If you don’t dare to take risk, you’ll never know.
