Buying domain name from other owner
Saturday, October 22nd, 2005 at 4:12 pm in My LifeRecently im looking for a domain name which is game related, after searching for quite some time i’ve think of the word “latest games” because i want to make a site which have new games posted almost every day. I wouldn’t be surprised that the domain name had been taken, so i decided to give it a try and emailed the person who own the domain name and ask him how much he would sell latestgames.com to me.
He quoted me $5000 for that domain. Can you imagine that? I rather use the money on something else so i got myself latestgames.net instead for $7 only. I also bought 3 more domains but i won’t be revealing what im going to do with them yet. So if you want to get a nice domain, do it now before its too late.

it is said that a blog if you got others linking to you, it worth $500 to $1k per link. Dunno whether this applies to blog or not?

but i’d rather buy domain name and webhost service from the same company.
i think that’ll avoid some of the problems a friend of mine had.

Jimmy, what your friend’s problem? From what i know, it is best not to buy domain from webhost service, it is best to buy it yourself from either godaddy, domainsite or namecheap. You must have control on the domain you buy or else anything can happend.

If you bought your domain name from web hosting providers, they should give you a control panel where you can manage your domain name. So it doesn’t really matter where you bought it from…
Web hosting providers are mostly resellers from domain registrars such as tucows, enom, directi, or others.
