I’ve seen this news in the internet few days ago but since it is featured in chinese newspaper in-tech pullouts yesterday, i think you guys would want to know it as well. But this entry is strictly for adults only!
As you’re probably aware, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, the violent, controversial, and of course, highly popular video game by Rockstar Games has been in some hot water recently, and it looks like things are only going to get worse. That comes after an investigation by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) found that sexual content was indeed readily available in GTA:SA and the mod called “Hot Coffee” can make it available to anyone who owns the game.
The popular video game, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, has been rerated to be an ‘adult only’ (AO) game, due to a hidden scene available in the game only after performing certain actions.
“After a thorough investigation, we have concluded that sexually explicit material exists in a full rendered, unmodified form on the final discs of all three platform versions of the game [and] the credibility and the utility of the initial ESRB rating has been seriously undermined.� says Patricia Vance, vice president, ESRB.
The game, which features you, the player, controlling a criminal who goes around stealing cars, delivering drugs, and other ‘jobs’, has been shown to have a hidden sex scene only available if the game’s executable is modified to allow access, however, the fact that the scene is there (while, unaccessable without “hacking� the executable) makes the ESRB rating inaccurate. Game developers are required to submit all content which will be distributed with a game, regardless of intent to be accessed.
The game will be rerated as AO, and AO stickers will be sent to game-stores who would like to keep the game on shelves.
