Yesterday after work i’ve decided to witness Jay Chow and other Initial D cast member at the Initial D Movie Carnival held at 1U shopping center new wing open air car park.

When it reaches 6 o’clock, i grab my stuff and left the office and later will meet up with my friends at 1U. The traffic was awful and i only manage to get there at 7:15pm since i went home to eat dinner before i hit the road.

Amazingly that time im able to locate a parking space in a flash unlike other days where i have to scout and stalk for one. I called my friend that time but he still stuck in the horrible congestion, so i’ve decided to look for the carnival area first.

I’ve asked my way to the open air car park and in front of me i saw a very big area with those carnival tent. Indeed there is a big crowd out there and somehow it reminds me of the Asian X Games. I look around and saw alot of lala(misdressed teen) and i try to walk nearer to the stage to catch a glimps of what’s happening there.

On stage there’s the my.fm host and looks like they are having a voice impersonation of a driving car. Kinda absurd if you ask me. Anyway that time im not sure if Jay and the crew had arrive yet or not or maybe they left the stage. So i started to look around and suddenly i heard the host says, let us welcome: “Jay Chow!”

And the crowd roars so i quickly focus to the stage. First to walk up the stage was Jay Chow…and followed by Edison Chen with his botak hair, then comes Anthony Wong, Shawn Yue and Kenny B. That time i checked my handphone and it was 7:44pm.

The host talk to them one by one and give those celebrity a chance to promote the movie. Most of the stars didn’t talk much and Kenny B did most of the talking. I notice all the while Jay was only leaning to the wall behind him and acting cool.

Exactly 7:59pm, they leave the stage and the crowd leave as well. I followed the crowd and walk back to 1U to meet up with my friend and i explained to him what happened because he couldn’t make it on time. Since the carnival will only ends at 10pm so we went back to see what other events they got.

Coming rite up is the drifting competition and we are so anticipated to see real car drifting for the first time. Since the event haven’t start yet so we went to see some racing cars. We saw Nissan 350Z, some Gen2, some Savvy and some car which i saw in Grand Turismo before but forgot their names lol.

At that time some showgirls walk the track and move their body to the songs played and everyone wooed. Me and my friend walk until the place where the drifting contestant starting pit. Alot of cun cars can be seen and we didn’t realize that we trespass the area because only those who have pass can go in. We try to camouflage among those who have pass yet they manage to saw us so we have to walk back to the normal crowd far behind.

When the practising stage starts, all the contestant really high spirited, their car roars and there he go. The first contestant shoot out from the starting line like a bull and at the first corner he manage to drift like a pro. I was so shocked when i first saw something like that. First time in my life i see a car drift in front of my eyes! It’s really breathtaking to see such thing and i was so hype at that time.

I was even more amazed when most of the car they use are expensive car! Cars which im talking about are Lotus Elise, RX7 and some good looking sports car. Some of the least expensive are Toyota Corolla GL and some worn out Daihatsu. Some of the car even have fire blow out from the exhaust. Rock on baby!

My personal favourite was the AE-86 driver because his drifting was so awesome and he can do it so perfectly. Unlike those Initial D wannabe who over drift and end up turning in circle. Some breathtaking moments was when they almost crashed into the crowd and that’s what im longing for but unfortunately it did not happend.

Around 9 something we’ve decided to head back home and i manage to grab an Initial D T-Shirt. Can’t wait to watch the Initial D The Movie!!
