Safari Browser Layout Problem Solved!!!
Monday, May 30th, 2005 at 2:34 pm in Site NewsAt last my Safari Browser layout problem is solved!!!
I posted this problem in every single webmaster forum i know and asked most of the seasoned webmaster i know but none of them have the slightest idea for the solution (maybe because they are dumb have no knowledge in this kinda stuff but i don’t blame them)
Actually i didn’t know that there are alot of webmaster having headache and insomnia over this problem but i would like to share something interesting that i learned in the process of fixing this template to compatible with Safari browser. I think most of you guys heard about iCapture before right? Yes, that website is a tool for everyone to submit their website link so that the admin will take a screenshot of how your website layout look like under iMac’s Safari Browser.
I was so excited and feeling relieved that cheeaun intro this website to me. I was happy that i can check how awful my site look like under Safari then i could make changes to my CSS to fix the problem. But the thing is that this website is fucking dumb down for god knows what reason and i visited that website countless time yet everytime it will prompt that the queue is buzy so no one is able to submit their link to see the screenshot.
After asking around…i found a primary school friend of mine in MSN who is using iMac, so i ask her to help me check my layout and i make changes to CSS then ask her check layout again and i change CSS and this goes on and on. But shes not always there for me. Sometimes i make some changes but she dissapeared for the day then im stuck with the problem again.
I feel paiseh also for troubling her…that’s why i left with no choice, no help and im middle of no where feeling so helpless. Suddenly god knows what struck my head and i have the idea of searching for a browser that display website layout which is similar with Safari browser but i doubt that browser even exist. After a while i gave up because such browser really doesn’t exist.
After that i turn to my another pc in office which is using Fedora and my mind was wondering if Konqueror browser will have the same layout as Safari browser. And guess what i saw…
This is how my site looks like under Konqueror

Then i was like what the…how come it looks exactly like the problem layout in Safari browser?!?!
This is how my site looks like under Safari

Without wasting any time i quickly went google and search for “Safari and Konqueror” to see what gay relationship they have…
Below are some of the articles i found:
https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2004-April/msg04391.html
http://dot.kde.org/1041971213/
http://dot.kde.org/1041971213/1042034570/
If you’re lazy to read them…the conclusion is that Safari browser is created by KHTML developers!!! And Konqueror uses KHTML as its rendering engine, the same as the Macintosh Safari browser!!!!So next time anyone who doesn’t own an iMac and lazy to install whatever stupid mac emulator just to test their website layout under Safari browser, can consider using Konqueror!!
Here are some screenshot of how my site look like under iMac and Konqueror after the CSS fix
This is how my site looks like under Safari now

This is how my site looks like under Konqueror now

Muahaha now my site looks normal under IE, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Safari!

Urm, was the striked out ‘are dumb’ developeres suppose to be a joke? I don’t think they’ll find it funny if they were to read this article.:???:
Anyway, other than telling about the process of fixing the problem, I was looking forward more on the solution of the problem. Though sadly you didn’t mention it anywhere here.
sigh..

haiyo…im not talking about you also la
Cool down my friend…By the way have u heard before the destination is not important, the journey is.
Actually the problem is that somethings wrong with my sidebar…i think when i tweak them long ago i added an extra “ul” tag in my left sidebar and somehow it screwed everything in Safari. That is why it drops down to the bottom right. Nothing to do with the content width.
