Safari Browser Problem
Tuesday, May 17th, 2005 at 11:01 am in Site NewsHello everyone…yesterday James who is using Safari browser to view my blog told me that my layout look out of place when using Safari to view. I ask him a favour by taking a screenshot of how my blog would look like under Safari and this is how it appears to be:
So, my initial guessing was most probably
-
1. the oversize content size
-
2. the css in content using overflow: hidden; (this code is used for hiding the image if the image is bigger than the content width)
I think safari don’t recognize that particular css code that’s why the main content drop down because when the images is bigger than the content width then it will push the content width and make it bigger and when this happends the content will drop to below.
If anyone reading this know how to solve this do suggest your solution in my comment. Anyone who is using Safari and have msn or other messaging program please contact me via comment because i will do some changes and require your assistant to see whether there is any improvement. Hope you guys can help out. Im doing all this so that Safari user can view this blog without any problem.
Thank you very much

Hi Kahsoon,
I guess it was due to the oversize content size (your initial quess 1) too.
I had similar problem last week, one more extra pixel also will ruin the layout, so have to calculate correctly. I would suggest you set your images to a fix size.

but i use overflow: hidden; in my css then it shouldn’t be a problem right? because that piece of code will hide the image which is oversize behind the content.
hmmm maybe thats the problem ler? you see my google adsense layout also got hidden abit behind the content because my content width is 445px but the adsense banner is 468px. If i have to resize all the picture then i cannot use adsense banner also.
or maybe i can enlarge the content width to 470px and big enuff for other pictures and smaller my sidebar width then it shouldn’t have problem anymore? hmmmm…will it work? i cannot tell…cos i dont have Safari browser or Mac to test it. Anyone out there who have Safari can leave your msn or other messaging contact? I wanna have a test.

Hie.. i just updated my blog, it’s regarding safari browser. You can actually use iCapture service for free but you got to register for an account first lo, to capture an image of your site, and view it. Very fast and easy. fast* here depends on the number of website on queue.
Here it is: iCapture
I really like your theme

Try disabling the overflow and see if that fixes the problem being encountered in Safari. If that doesn’t fix it, try resizing the content window. The main point of doing this is to pinpoint where the problem is lying.
I can’t really troubleshoot your CSS cause I really see a lot of IDs and CLASSs on your site. Love the Extensions for Firefox.

It would be whole lot easier for me to solve the problem if i have mac. Actually the overflow not the problem cos the template comes with that code and it looks fine before i tweak it and i cant use that template without tweaking because it looks awful
Man this really driving me crazy cos nobody have the knowledge to help out…i might be considering changing to another template so hopefully there is someone who can create a good looking 3 column wordpress template.

Everyone wishes they had a Mac for testing purposes especially. Anyway, iCapture doe wonders if you’re just not lazy in using it.
And the mistake learnt here is always remember to test the website/weblog in most standard browsers before launching.
Cheers.

I know iCapture few weeks ago when cheeaun intro it to me and since that day until now the queue had been buzy and do not accept submission. So what option left for me?
And you said:
How to test Safari browser when there’s no mac for me to test? Anyone know any cybercafe which have mac?
